Expanding Our Medical Division!

We are so very excited to welcome Dr. Lily Liu to the Pure Harmony Day Spa Team! She was introduced to us through several team members who have worked with her in the past. They raved about her treatments! Not only is she highly skilled with proven results in her work, she has a pleasant and nurturing personality that’s impossible to dislike.

Her client testimonials go on and on singing her praises. After you’ve read her biography, you’ll see why she yields such amazing results. People who have stated they’ve tried acupuncture once before but did not notice results, have not seen Dr. Lily. However, just like working out at the gym, multiply and regular sessions yield greater outcomes.

Biography

Dr. Lily Hongbo Liu, OMD, PhD is one of the few Acupuncturists locally who holds both an MD and PhD degrees with oriental and western medical training. She graduated from ShanDong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in 1988. Moving on, Dr. Lily Liu practiced Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in a Chinese hospital for over ten years before moving to Japan to earn her PhD in Medical Sciences at Kyoto University in 2005. That experience moved her here to St. Louis where she went to Washington University Medical School for her post-doctoral fellowship.

Now Dr. Lily Liu is a Nationally Certified Acupuncturist by NCCAOM, as well as a licensed Acupuncturist in the state of Missouri. She uses her oriental and western medical training background along with a passion to diagnose the root of disease, which enables her to provide the holistic treatment that will help her patients and clients to live a pain-free and healthy life.

She successfully treats a wide range of diseases, including arthritis, autoimmune disorders, anxiety, depression, diabetes, GI issues, infertility, migraines, menopause syndrome, pre-and post-surgical pain and other common health issues. Her strong medical training background, passion for patient’s wellbeing and her painless needle technique have satisfied patients and clients who trust her for their ongoing health.

Her most popular treatment is the AcuFacial® Facelift, a nonsurgical approach to reducing fine lines and wrinkles. It eliminates double chins, lifts sagging facial muscles, and rejuvenates dull, lifeless, aging skin with no down time.

Q&As with Dr. Lily

Why should we get acupuncture?

Our DNA cells get mutated which causes cancer. Our body has a DNA repair system which kicks in when you get acupuncture. It keeps the body healthy before cancer gets in. If you do not want to catch a cold or allergies, get acupuncture in advance to keep your body healthy and protected. A strong system can ward off colds and a weak system cannot. “Acupuncture treats the root of the ailment not just alleviating the symptoms. Even though we will treat the problem areas, we also heal and promote wellbeing for the whole body,” states Dr. Lily.

How does acupuncture help with weight loss?

Our metabolism slows down as we get older which in return slows down the digestive system. Acupuncture increases the metabolism, makes the digestive system stronger and gives you more energy.

How do you prepare for an acupuncture service and are you supposed to do anything afterwards?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing as you will be face up and face down on the treatment table. It would be a good idea to eat something before coming in, in the event your blood sugar drops after treatment. You do not want to drink coffee or alcohol before any treatment. Drink plenty of water after the service to rehydrate.

How does acupuncture compare to Eastern medicine?

Although prescription medicine can be helpful, if it’s abused or used for an extended amount of time, it causes the brain to become lazy or numb to your body’s needs. “I work along WITH doctors and NOT against them. With prolong sessions of acupuncture, you may be able to cut down on your prescription medicine and even get off of it completely!” says Dr. Lily.

Are there any clients you have not recommended acupuncture for?

No, acupuncture helps everyone. For pregnant women who would like treatment in their lower back, we advise against it, since that’s a sensitive area that could trigger early birthing. Older Clients that have severe dementia should have a family member by to assist them.

Cupping Therapy | 30 min - $48

Cupping is the use of suction cups which acts to draw out what is called stagnant or stuck energy from inside the body and brings it to the surface where it can be released. Consider this needle-free therapy a reverse massage. It is used in areas such as the back, shoulders, and forearms when the muscles are very tight or there is aching pain. Treatment benefits the lungs, treats coughs and asthma, and combats pain in multiple areas of the body. Cupping often leaves a circular bruise-like mark where the cup was which can last from a few days to a couple weeks.
